beginning knitting or beginning crochet—–every saturday!

from the completely inexperienced to experts of old needing a refresher course to beginners needing help on their first projects, this class is a rolling introduction to the basics. sign up for as many sessions as you want or need. a scarf, hat, or felted bag make great beginner projects!

private lessons

private lessons are always available! knitting, crochet, spinning, and needle felting. $20/hr.

six week sweater class

choose your own adventure

$75 + materials

take the plunge and knit a sweater for yourself, or practice on the defenseless dogs and babies in your life. in any case, knit the sweater of your choice with the peace of mind that supervision provides. while basic knitting skills are required, you will learn how to read a pattern, adjust for gauge and size, increase and decrease, and a variety of finishing techniques.

crochet entrelac $60 + materials

entrelac is a technique used to make a textured diamond pattern. learn how while making this beautiful wrap. basic crochet skills are required.

friday, march 5, 12, 19, and 26, 6-8 pm

beginning lace $45 + materials

what are you afraid of? you’ve put holes in your knitting plenty of times! now learn how to do it on purpose. learn all about increases and decreases and make a sophisticated shawl in the process.

wednesday, march 24, 31, and april 7, 6-8 pm

materials: 2 skeins of kidsilk haze or kid melange and US 8 needles

granny squares $30 + materials

a staple of any mamaw’s crochet repertoire, but when not made out of brown and orange acrylic, granny squares are surprising stylish. not only will this up any beginner crocheter’s game, but granny squares are great stash busters!

friday, april 2 and 9, 6-8 pm

materials: at least 300 yards of worsted weight yarn in a few colors and a US H/8 crochet hook.

advanced lace $60 + materials

if you’ve dreamed about making a shawl—not one of those garter stitch prayer shawls, but a real honest-to-goodness lace shawl like the kind you imagine women in eastern european villages wear—then this is your class.

wednesday, april 14, 21, 28, and may 5, 6-8 pm

materials: approximately 1094yd/1000m yards of lace weight yarn and US 5 needles

crochet flowers $30 + materials

all of those unadorned bags and scarves are so boring. immediately improve any project with crochet flowers of all shapes and sizes. this is a great stash buster. and just think how much better your derby hat will look covered in crocheted flowers!

magic loop: two at a time socks

do you suffer from sss (second sock syndrome)? we have the cure: knit both socks at the same time. while you can't use double pointed needles for this technique, this is a great reason to learn how to knit in the round with the magic loop!

friday, may 28, june 4, and 11, 6-8 pm

materials: 100 grams of sock yarn, 40 inch needle in size US 1 or 2

amigurumi $45 + materials

amigurumi is japanese for cute crocheted toys. seriously, you can’t get much cuter. simple crochet skills are required, but if you know how to chain and single crochet, you can do it!
